RSS HUGGER

What is RSS?
RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it. RSS solves a problem for people who regularly use the web. It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually. You ensure your privacy, by not needing to join each site's email newsletter. The number of sites offering RSS feeds is growing rapidly and includes big names like Yahoo News. More info can be found at WhatisRSS.com

The Idea
rssHugger is a unique website that aims to bring bloggers and readers together. rssHugger aims to provide blog owners with a unique easy-to-use way to promote their blogs by sending them traffic, building backlinks for search engine optimization, as well as attracting new rss subscribers if the content is interesting to the reader. rssHugger aims to help visitors be able to easily find blogs that write about subjects they are interested in. These subjects include: internet marketing, making money online, charity, sports, gambling, and many more. If the visitors find a blog that they had not previously heard about, they can easily add it to their RSS readers or bookmark it.

The Goal
My goal was originally to get 50,000 blogs signed up with a $10 joiners fee, but due to the fact that I want to support all of the great bloggers, even those who cannot afford $10, I changed this goal to sign up 250,000 free blogs within the first year of operation. With over 112 million registered blogs, with about 175,000 new ones per day, I feel this goal is possible. The money will be used to pay off college expenses, to invest in my other internet startup companies, sponsor like-minded business folk, and continue to support Kiva, who support entrepreneurs in the developing world.

Who am I?
My name is Collin LaHay, and I am an experienced entrepreneur, search engine optimizer, and internet marketer looking to expand my portfolio.

How much does a blog page cost?
Due to the popular vote in the community, we have removed the registration fee! To get a permanent RSS page on rssHugger, all you need to do is write an honest review of the website on your blog. If you do not want to talk about rssHugger on your blog, we do offer an alternative of a $20 review fee, which ultimately runs down to only $2 per year!

How can I maximize my blog's visibility?
After you have signed up, begin by writing your blog post about rssHugger as per our agreement, but make sure to include your rssHugger blog page in your post. The more visitors you send to your page, the higher you will rank on the Top 100 page. To keep everyone on an even playing field, the Top 100 blogs page resets everyone back to zero on the 1st of every month. This will allow those that actively participate or promote their page on rssHugger to receive much more promotion in return. If you want to keep your rssHugger blog page ranking high at all times, it is recommended that you add your page to your Blogroll, or make a monthly post updating your visitors about the website.

Also make sure to pick some specific categories to add your rssHugger page in. To find examples of what other people are doing, visit the search page.

Who should purchase a blog page?
Now that we have removed the registration fee, and offer a completely free way to join rssHugger for 10 years, everyone that writes a quality blog should join!

What are the benefits of owning a blog page?
For the blog owners:

Raise awareness of your blog
Send tons of visitors to your blog
Share traffic with the community
Be part of a viral/buzz marketing campaign
Build deep-links for your blog posts to help with search engine optimization
Get new interested RSS subscribers who view your content on a regular basis.

For the visitors:

Find blogs that interest you
Easily subscribe to many blogs
Skim over hundreds of blogs to find what suits you

How does the idea work?
A blog owner writes a review about rssHugger (Who we are, what we do, your opinion, suggestions, etc), and registers his blog on rssHugger.com (We manually review all blogs/reviews to ensure that our website only hosts quality blogs). With that blog post, a lot of new users come to check out the site and then 10% of the readers may own their own blog and repeat the process. (If you do not want to make a blog post about our website, you can pay a $20 one time review fee to join). All in all, the site idea comes down to something like this:

What inspired you to make this website?
I came up with this unique idea while reading about ShoeMoney.com's $13,000 rss contest for October, in which he was competing with JohnChow.com on who of the two had more new rss subscribers for their blog in a month.

Can I change my blog later on?
Absolutely. If you decide to change your blog's URL whether it be from a .blogspot.com to your own domain, or just an entirely new blog itself, just shoot me an email and I will change it when I have time.

What will the blog's URL be?
The format for blogs is: www.rssHugger.com/YourBlog.com

What kind of blogs are not allowed?
rssHugger will not allow any blogs that promote illicit/illegal activities, violate trademark/copyright infringement policies, display pornographic content, or any other hate page. Spam of any kind is also not tolerated. I reserve the right to deny any page that I feel is not 'family friendly,' for the benefit of the rest of rssHugger's users. If you are wondering whether your blog violates any of the rules about porn/spam, I generally go by the rule: "If you have to ask... the chance is it probably wont be accepted." You can always email me asking and I will respond within 24 hours.
